To prepare for the school opening in August, the Department of Education (DepEd) Last Monday started its month-long enrollment in public schools and conducted a virtual national kick-off of two of its major back-to-school programs: the Brigada Eskwela (BE) and Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE). DepEd has earlier announced that the opening of classes for the basic education for School Year (SY) 2020-2021 will start on August 24 and will end 30 April 2021. Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that there will be “no face-to-face” conduct of classes “until safe.” However, she noted that DepEd will still provide learning opportunities to students without requiring them to come to school through blended and distance learning. DepEd has also released the School Calendar for SY 2020-2021 which outlined the activities for both teachers and learners.
